A person with a elephant tusk apprehended by Navy

A person along with an elephant tusk hidden in a house was apprehended by the Navy during a joint operation conducted with Police STF, at Gothameegama area in Katharagma, today (18^th May 2020).

This 2.5 ft long elephant tusk which was hidden in a house at Gothameegama area in Katharagma, was recovered during an operation conducted by a team of naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF-Ambalanthota, today. A person who was in the house and suspicious to the case was also taken into custody.

The suspect is a resident of the same area, aged 29. The recovered elephant tusk along with the suspect was handed over to Katharagama Police for further investigation.
