Two (02) persons apprehended for catching lobsters without valid permit

Navy apprehended 02 persons for catching lobsters without a valid permit in Oluvil area during a search operation carried out by Navy in coordination with the Department of SL Coast Guard.

SL Navy regularly carries out patrols in search of the illegal activists for the conservation of maritime eco system. Accordingly, these 02 persons who were catching lobsters without a valid permit in Oluvil area, were apprehended during a patrol carried out by naval personnel attached to the Southeastern Naval Command in coordination with the Department of SL Coast Guard- Oluvil. The Navy also seized a canoe, twenty (20) Nos. of illegally caught lobsters and few fishing gear during the search.

The apprehended persons are residents of Palamunai and Oluvil areas, aged 33 and 51. The 02 suspects together with the canoe, lobsters and other fishing gear were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector-Oluvil for onward action.
