Interest free loan awarded for 150 Senior Sailors
Handing over the cheques of interest free loan facility valued Five Hundred Thousand rupees (Rs.500,000/=) for hundred and fifty (150) Senior Sailors of Sri Lanka Navy were carried out from 11th to 14th May 2020. These cheques were handed over at the Naval bases where these senior sailors are serving and at their residencies for the senior sailors who are on leave prior to retirement.
Since it is difficult to award these cheques at the Naval Headquarters when considering the epidemic situation in the country, this programme was launched under the directives of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, to hand over the cheques at the Naval bases where these senior sailors are serving and at their residencies for the senior sailors who are on leave prior to retirement. During this programme launched for 04 days from 11th to 14th May 2020, a capital of 75 million rupees released by the Naval Benefit Fund, was awarded as loan facility for 150 senior sailors.
This interest free loan facility was launched for the senior sailors in recognition of their long service for the Sri Lanka Navy and 3130 senior sailors have been facilitated up to now and it is being progressed to provide the same loan for another 2038 senior sailors in future.
