Person possessed heroin apprehended by Navy

During a joint operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy and Divisional Anti Corruption Unit-Hambanthota, a person with heroin was apprehended at Koholankala area in Hambanthota, today (10^th May 2020).

Even under this pandemic situation, SL Navy is engaging in continuous operations to prevent the smuggling of drugs. During a similar operation, naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command with officials of Divisional Anti Corruption Unit-Hambanthota, had detected a suspicious motor bike and by searching the rider, about 12.260g of heroin was found in his possession. The suspect with the amount of heroin and motor bike were taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as a resident of Siribopura area in Hambanthota, aged 32. Meanwhile, the suspect along with heroin and motor bike were handed over to the Hambanthota Police for further investigation.
