Navy seizes unauthorized fishing nets casted in Batticaloa lagoon

During a patrol conducted in Batticaloa lagoon on 06^th May 2020, the Navy managed to find 02 unauthorized nets being cast at Kotuwamada area.

The Navy regularly conducts operations to safeguard the fisheries and marine resources in waters around Sri Lanka. As an extension of these operations, the Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command managed to seize these 02 unauthorized nets of 100ft and 50ft in length which had been casted in Batticaloa lagoon for illegal fishing.

The unauthorized nets detained by the Navy handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Batticaloa for onward action.
