Two persons attempted in illegal fishing with unauthorized nets apprehended by Navy

SL Navy apprehended two (02) persons who attempted in illegal fishing with unauthorized nets, during a search operation carried out at Mulankavil area in Mannar on 05^th May 2020.

SL Navy conducts continuous patrols and search operations to curb the illegal fishing practices. Accordingly, Naval personnel attached to North Central Naval Command on coastal observation duty at Mulankavil area in Mannar, searched a suspicious fishing craft ready to leave for fishing and found an unauthorized net. The two persons on illegal fishing attempt and the unauthorized net were taken into custody.

The suspects are residents of the same area, aged 30 and 34. They along with the craft and net were handed over to Mulankavil Police for onward action.
