Navy assists apprehension of person with heroin

During a joint operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy and Divisional Anti Corruption Unit- Galle, a person with heroin was apprehended at Thalapitiya area in Galle, on 02^nd May 2020. p>

Sri Lanka Navy, which is currently engaged in the national task of combating drugs, has carried out a number of successful operations to prevent the smuggling of drugs. During a similar operation, naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command with officials of Divisional Anti Corruption Unit- Galle, had detected a suspicious person and found about 1760mg of heroin in his possession. The suspect with the amount of heroin was taken into custody.

The accused has been identified as a resident of the same area. Meanwhile, the suspect along with heroin was handed over to the Galle Police for further investigation.
