Two persons with 49kg of cannabis apprehended by Navy

The Navy coordinated with the Police STF seized 49kg of cannabis, during a search conducted at Ussella and Kudawewa areas in Thanamalwila on 23^rd April 2020.

SL Navy continuously carries out search operations to curb drug trafficking activities in the island and extending such Navy in coordination with Police STF-Ambalanthota conducted an operation in Thanamalwila area. During this search operation, 07kg of cannabis were found by search of a suspicious person spotted in Ussella area and he was taken into custody. Following the information received from this suspect, another person with 42kg of cannabis, was apprehended in Kudawewa area.

The suspects are residents of Kudaoya area. They along with recovered stock of cannabis were handed over to Koslanda Police for onward investigation.
