A number of disinfection programmes conducted by Navy
In order to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducted several disinfection programmes at Colombo North Teaching Hospital-Ragama, Railway stations in Mahawa and Galle, on 19th and 20th April 2020.
These sterilization programmes were carried out by Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit. Considering the safety of the patients who come to Colombo North Teaching Hospital-Ragama for treatments and its medical staff and the safety of civilians who use trains for their essential transportation during the temporary relaxing of curfew in Mahawa and Galle areas, these sterilization programmes were conducted in accordance with proper guidelines for sanitization and disinfection. All areas of hospital premises, the two railway stations and train compartments were successfully sterilized.
Further, Navy is planning to carry out continuous disinfection programmes in public places to ward off the deadly virus.
