Lorry transporting consignment of agro-chemicals with essential food seized by Navy
Sri Lanka Navy seized a lorry which was transporting a stock of agro-chemicals with essential food items, at the naval roadblock at Poonewa in Medawachchiya on 18th April 2020.
Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command had intercepted a suspicious lorry at the naval roadblock at Poonewa in Medawachchiya on 18th April 2020. During further search, naval personnel managed to find 160 packets each containing 24 bottles of agro-chemicals which had been unsafely stored with essential food items like rice, chili powder and tea powder. Two persons in the lorry were also taken into naval custody.
The apprehended persons have been identified as residents of Kilinochchi and Vavuniya, aged 31 and 37. The suspects along with the lorry and items were handed over to the Medawachchiya Police for onward legal action.
