Navy assists apprehension of person for illegal selling of liquor
The Navy apprehended a person for illegal selling of liquor, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Kalmunai area on 17th April 2020.
The Navy is launching operations to curb illegal sale of narcotics and liquor in the country, at a time when the government has imposed island-wide curfew to control the pandemic of novel coronavirus. As part of these operations, naval personnel attached to the Southeastern Naval Command and the Kalmunai Police conducted a search in Kalmunai and apprehended a person who was selling liquor by illegal means at Thalawattan Junction. Seventy six (76) liquor bottles were also taken into custody during the raid.
The apprehended person was identified as a resident of the Anpuvalipuram in Pandiruppu, aged 35. Meanwhile, the Kalmunai Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
