Three (03) suspects held with illegal drugs in Pulmoddai

The Navy apprehended 03 suspects in possession of cannabis and heroin, during a coordinated search conducted at the roadblock of Yan Oya, Pulmoddai on 16^th April 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy has been making a valiant effort to curb illegal drug trafficking in the country and off its shores. As part of these operations, naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command carried out a search with the Police on duty at the Yan Oya roadblock. Accordingly, the security personnel intercepted 02 suspicious motorbikes at the roadblock and found 30g of cannabis and 05g of heroin in the possession of three persons on the motorbikes. Subsequently, the suspects and illegal drugs were taken into custody.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Poduwakattu and Kuchchaveli, from 22 to 32 years of age. The suspects along with motorbikes and illegal drugs were handed over to the Pulmoddai Police for onward investigation.
