Navy assists apprehension of person for retaining conch shells without permit

The Navy apprehended a suspect in possession of conch shells without permit, during a search operation conducted with the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Mannar in the Karisalpadu area of Mannar on 16th April

As part of search operations conducted by Sri Lanka Navy to suppress illegal activities, a group of naval personnel in the North Central Naval Command, with the assistance of Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Mannar carried out this raid in the Karisalpadu area. In this operation, the raiding party managed to recover about 460 conch shells hidden in a fishing hut. A 40 year old resident of Pesalai area was also taken into custody in connection to the incident.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Mannar is conducting further investigation about the suspect and conch shells.
