Navy apprehends person with cannabis in Mannar

The Navy held a persons in possession of cannabis, during a search conducted with the Police in Illuppaikaddawai, Mannar on 16^th April 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy which has been playing an instrumental role in controlling the spread of the corona threat in the country, is also carrying out regular operations to strengthen the security of the country and curb illegal activities. As part of the Navy’s continuous operations to curb the smuggling of drugs, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Illuppaikaddawai Police searched a suspicious house in the locality and apprehended a resident in possession of about 100g of cannabis.

The accused was identified as a 35 year old resident in the same area. The Illuppaikaddawai Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
