Navy nabs 02 persons with heroin

The Navy nabbed 02 persons in possession of 4.8g of heroin, during an operation conducted in Wennappuwa area on 14^th April 2020.

While playing a key role to arrest the spread of novel coronavirus within the country, Sri Lanka Navy has been a prominent force that is continuing its operations for the defence of the country and to curb illegal activities being performed. During a similar operation conducted in Wennappuwa area on 14th April, naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command had searched a suspicious person who was riding a motorbike. The suspect had about 2.5g of heroin in his possession. After a tip-off from the suspect, the Navy managed to apprehend another individual with about 2.3g of heroin.

The accused were identified as residents of Wennappuwa area, aged 23 and 40. The suspects together with the motorbike and heroin were handed over to the Wennappuwa Police for onward investigation.
