Navy finds 07 unauthorized nets in Batticaloa lagoon

During a patrol conducted in Batticaloa lagoon today (13^th April 2020), the Navy managed to seize 07 unauthorized nets cast to catch fish.

In view of safeguarding the marine ecosystem, Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular patrols to nab people who are engaging in in illegal fishing activities. During a similar patrol conducted in Kotuwamada area, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command managed to find 07 unauthorized fishing nets cast in Batticaloa lagoon.

Meanwhile, the seized fishing nets will be handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Batticaloa for onward action.
