Navy conducts series of disinfection programmes at several locations

In its continuous efforts to control the spread of new coronavirus within the country, the Navy conducted several disinfection programmes at Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama, Base Hospital in Minuwangoda, Zahira College in Puttalam and several banks in Maradana and Colpetty areas on 10th and 11th April 2020.

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been carrying out a number of disinfection programmes in places which are regularly frequented by people. Accordingly, these disinfection programmes at above locations were carried out by the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit. The CBRN Unit sterilized all premises of said institutions in accordance with proper sterilization guidelines.

Meanwhile, the Navy stands ready to carry out similar sterilization programmes in public places to prevent further spread of the virus.
