Navy hands over stock of medical outfits to Director General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva handed over a stock (3,400) of medical outfits, worn by healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients, to Director General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe at the Ministry of Health today (11th April 2020).

Meanwhile, the materials needed to stitch these outfits, which had been a grave need at this point of time, were provided to the Navy by Nations Trust Bank and Creative Textiles Pvt Ltd, Wattala.

Under the guidance of the Director General Logistics, Rear Admiral Udaya Hettiarachchi the Naval Sewing Center in Welisara sewed these garments in a short span of time. For this noble cause, the civil servants who work at the Naval Sewing Center volunteered their manpower even amidst these difficult times.

The occasion to handover these 3,400 medical outfits at the Ministry of Health was also attended by Commander of the Navy, a group of senior officers and officials from the Nations Trust Bank and Creative Textiles Pvt Ltd.
