Person in possession of liquor stock without license nabbed in Negombo

The Navy nabbed a person in possession of a stock of liquor without license, during a search operation conducted with the Police in Wijaya Katupotha area, Chilaw today (10^th April 2020).

The Navy is launching operations to curb illegal sale of narcotics and liquor in the country, at a time when the government has imposed curfew island-wide to control the pandemic of novel coronavirus. As part of these operations, the Navy and Arachchikattuwa Police had conducted a search in Wijaya Katupotha area and raided a suspected house in the area. During the operation. The raiding party managed to find 46 liquor bottles and 10 beer cans. A resident of the house was also apprehended for possessing this assortment of liquor without a license.

The apprehended person was identified as a resident of the same area, aged 51. Meanwhile, the Arachchikattuwa Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
