Group of treasure hunters apprehended by Navy

Sri Lanka Navy nabbed 06 treasure hunters, during a search operation conducted in the Erambukudella area in Etalai, Puttalam on 08^th April 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular search operations to curb illegal acts secretly being performed during curfew hours. During a similar operation, naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command had apprehended these 06 suspects while engaging in treasure hunting in Erambukudella area. A number of treasure hunting equipment and a lorry were also taken into custody during this operation.

The accused were identified as residents of Etalai and Norochcholai areas, from 38 to 55 years of age. The suspects together with the lorry and treasure hunting equipment were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for onward investigation.
