Navy assists senior citizens to get their pension

The senior citizens who felt in difficulties of transport under the curfew situation enacted all over the island, were assisted by the navy to obtain their pension on 02nd and 03rd April 2020.

The Navy is carrying out a number of programmes under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, to assist the people who face difficulties in getting their day today requirements done under the curfew situation enacted by the government to control the spread of the coronavirus in the country. Accordingly, naval personnel attached to the Western and Southern Naval Commands assisted groups of senior citizens who were living in their houses and in elders’ homes in Ragama and Galle areas, with transport facilities for travelling to the town to obtain their pension.

This initiative was a much console for the senior citizens who were on trouble to get their pension. Further, this programme has been scheduled to be continued in forthcoming days too.
