Kalubowila, Neville Fernando and KDU hospitals receive disinfection chambers from Navy

Disinfection chambers built by the Navy’s Research and Development Unit under Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project were set up at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital – Kalubowila, Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital and University Hospital KDU on 02nd April 2020.

The Naval Social Responsibility Project is being operated under direct supervision of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. Going further step ahead with NSR initiatives, disinfection chambers developed by Research and Development Unit of Sri Lanka Navy were set up at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital and University Hospital KDU today. A large number of people visit these hospitals for treatment on a daily basis. As such, the disinfection chambers were set up on the hospital premises for the safety of the people visiting the hospitals and members of hospital staff.

As part of the Naval Social Responsibility Project, the Navy has already commenced production of disinfection chambers of this kind. Accordingly, the Navy has taken steps to manufacture 09 disinfection chambers as of now and one of the chambers was recently set up at the main gate of Naval Headquarters.
