Navy General Hospital (Colombo) introduces mechanism to deliver pharmaceutical drugs to naval personnel, family members and civil staff employees
As a result of the outbreak of COVID – 19, retired naval personnel, their spouses and family members of naval personnel and civil staff employees who receive treatment from the clinics of Navy General Hospital (Colombo) are facing numerous hardships as of now.
Having realized the difficulties faced by the patients, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva has directed to deliver pharmaceutical drugs, barring cold chain drugs like insulin, to the houses of patients attending the clinics. The programme will commence on 04th April 2020 and it will continue until the COVID-19 outbreak lessens.
As part of the initiative, medicine will be delivered to patients who have been prescribed long-term treatment for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, chronic kidney disease, pregnancy, eye, skin, neurological and psychiatric ailments.
To receive pharmaceutical drugs, the last prescription issued by consultant physicians, family treatment form with registration number, telephone number and the address for receipt of medicine need to be sent to 076 3305064 via WhatsApp, Viber or Imo.
Drugs prescribed for the above diseases are issued only from the stocks currently available in the naval drug stores and it is kindly informed that no drug will be provided under local purchase.
