Navy General Hospital (Colombo) temporary holds up the treatment provided for retired naval personnel and naval family members
In concern to the pandemic situation in the country, SL Navy has decided to temporary hold up the treatment provided for retired naval personnel and naval family members by the Navy General Hospital (Colombo).
As an active partner in the government’s national programme to control the spread of COVID-19 virus all over the island, SL Navy has immensely been contributing the effort with following tasks.
a. Establishing and maintenance of Quarantine centres over the island
b. Attaching Navy medical staff to government hospitals as required
c. Upgrading and providing technical assistance required for government hospitals for treatment to COVID-19 affected patients
d. Sterilization at public premises
e. Providing meal for the people distressed under curfew situation
f. Fulfilling the entrusted duties except the routine security duties of the Navy
Accordingly, under the prevailing national disastrous situation, it is very important to maintain the Navy General Hospital (Colombo) actively with a safe atmosphere to keep naval personnel healthy and fit to carry out the above mentioned responsibilities in this crucial moment. At present, it has been compulsory to follow strictly restricted safety procedure in order to overcome this requirement using limited medical staff at Navy General Hospital (Colombo). If any member of the hospital medical staff affected with coronavirus, as per the regulations now being executed, all members worked with the affected one and the hospital premises has to be kept under a quarantine period.
Considering the mentioned reason, as a measure of preventing entry of a coronavirus affected person, all visitors are not entertained to any naval base or establishment and conqueringly to that decision, SL Navy has restricted the treatments only for the naval personnel on active service in view of protecting the Navy General Hospital (Colombo) Complex which is the only navy hospital with all facilities available for naval personnel.
However, only for emergency treatment of any retired naval person or naval family member the hospital will be kept open while government hospitals are also following the same procedure. As soon as this pandemic situation is over Navy General Hospital (Colombo) will be opened for the treatment of retired naval personnel and naval family members, again. All concerned personnel are kindly requested to get your casual treatments by the nearest hospital/medical centre and assist the Navy’s role in this disastrous situation with the sense of national responsibility.
