Navy apprehends three persons with 05 barrels of mixture to distil moonshine
SL Navy apprehended 03 persons with 05 barrels of mixture to distil moonshine (Goda) during a patrol carried out at Illankanthei area in Trincomalee, on 22nd March 2020.
While assisting the government’s effort to control the spreading of the coronavirus, Navy is concern of the country‘s security too. Accordingly, a team of naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command, during a patrol carried out at Illankanthei area in Trincomalee, on 22nd March 2020 observed 02 suspicious motor bikes which were parked near a shrubby land. Under the curfew situation, a search was conducted on the incident and 03 persons who were in the forest area with 05 barrels of mixture to distil illegal moonshine (Goda) and 02 empty plastic cans were found. The three suspects were apprehended with the items possessed and two bikes were also taken into naval custody.
The suspects have been identified as the residents of Thopur and Muthur areas aged 20 and 21. They along with the apprehended items were handed over to Sampoor Police for further investigation.
