Blood donation campaign organized by Navy at Galle

Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Service conducted a blood donation campaign with the participation of Naval personnel, at the Naval base SLNS Dakshina, today (21st March 2020).

With the influence of the new coronavirus, the blood stocks in the blood bank of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital had gone down. Considering this situation, the director of the blood bank requested assistance from the Navy for blood donation. Accordingly, this blood donation campaign was organized under the directives of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and under the guidance of Commander Southern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul.

During this hour of national need large number of naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command voluntarily and enthusiastically attended to donate blood. This commendable effort was assisted by the staff of the Blood Bank of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and the Medical staff of the SL Navy.

Navy is further prepared for such social responsibilities while assisting the suppressing campaigns of new coronavirus.
