Two persons held with outboard motor sans license
During an operation conducted in Wankalaipadu, Mannar on 17th March 2020, Sri Lanka Navy held two persons with an outboard motor sans license.
Sri Lanka Navy has been very much vigilant over illegal fishing practices in island's waters. A group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command, during an operation in Wankalaipadu, Mannar had spotted a suspicious dinghy and searched it. During this inspection it was revealed that the outboard motor of the dinghy had no valid license. Accordingly, the two suspects, the dinghy and outboard motor were taken into custody.
The two suspects have been recognised as residents of Pesalai, each aged 29. The accused along with the seized items were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Pesalai for onward action.
