Foundation stone laid for indoor sports complex at Welisara Naval Complex

Going by an idea mooted by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Siva, foundation stone laying for a indoor sports complex of the Welisara Naval Complex was held on an auspicious note today (18^th March 2020).

In view of furtherance of sports in the sea going arm, it was decided to build this sports complex at Welisara, following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, as the Chief Guest. Accordingly, the Navy Chief of Staff performed this ritual amidst the blessings of Venerable Maha Sangha.

The event was also attended by Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe, Director General Services, Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala, Detector Generals, officers and a group of sailors as well.
