Navy engaged in programme of disinfecting Trincomalee railway station
In a bid to arrest the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID – 19) in the island, Sri Lanka Navy engaged in a programme of disinfecting the Trincomalee railway station today (18th March 2020).
In support of the government’s coordinated efforts to control the spread of the disease in the country, the Navy has already commenced several programmes under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
Taking the safety of commuters into consideration, this programme of public transport sterilization was carried out at the Trincomalee railway station by Navy’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Unit. Accordingly, the Trincomalee railway station premises and train compartments were sterilized thoroughly in accordance with proper procedures.
Meanwhile, the Navy is geared up by all means to carryout similar sterilization programmes in the future to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading.
