Navy undertakes sterilization of Trincomalee bus station
In an attempt to stop the spread of COVID – 19 in the country, Sri Lanka Navy threw its weight behind sterilization of the Trincomalee bus station on 17th March 2020.
In the backdrop where the novel coronavirus has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the government has taken several steps to control the spread of the disease. Accordingly, under the directives and guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Siva, Navy’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Unit attached to the Eastern Naval Command had been engaged to sterilize the main bus station of Trincomalee, in an attempt to further spread of the disease as the number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased at an alarming rate. During the cleansing programme, the bus station premises as well as all busses were sterilized following Standard Operational Procedures.
Senior officers and a large number of sailors were also present on this occasion. Meanwhile, the Navy is geared up by all means to take every possible action to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
