Sixteen (16) sea turtle hatchlings break open the shells and return to sea

The Turtle Conservation Centre at Panama in Southeastern Naval Command, managed under Navy Turtle Conservation Project, released sixteen (16) sea turtle hatchlings to ocean today (16^th March 2020).

The Turtle Conservation Centre at Panama is operated under Navy Turtle Conservation Project, with the intention of conserving endangered turtle species and protecting marine ecosystem and biodiversity. The leadership for this timely drive is given by Commander of the Navy and the Head of the Marine and Environment Conservation Committee Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. Today these 16 sea turtle hatchlings came out from eggs which were conserved by Turtle Conservation Centre at Panama and the hatchlings, were released to the ocean by Commodore Neville Ubhayasiri, Deputy Area Commander of Southeastern Naval Command.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy which has realized the significance of the conservation of marine creatures and resources has employed its men efficiently for conservation activities in the coastal areas of the island. Thus fat in year 2020, Turtle Conservation Centre at Panama has set free 339 turtle hatchlings to the ocean.
