Navy apprehends unauthorized fishing net
The Navy, during a foot patrol in the Kokilai beach on 14th March 2020, apprehended an unauthorized fishing net which was in a motor tricycle parked at the beach.
The Navy has been conducting regular patrols in island’s waters and coastal areas for the prevention of illegal fishing practices. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command patrolling in the beach area of Kokilai had recovered this unauthorized fishing net.
The seized unauthorized fishing net was handed over to Pulmudai Police for onward investigation.
