Navy assists apprehension of 03 persons with 224kg of refuse tea

The Navy combining with the Vankalai Police apprehended 03 persons with 224kg of refuse tea at Vankalai junction on 13^th March 2020.

The Navy has been conducting regular operations island-wide for the prevention of illegal activities. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command combining with the Vankalai Police intercepted a suspicious motor car at the snap road block at Vankalai junction. During further search, security personnel managed to find about 224kg of refuse tea in the vehicle. Accordingly, 03 persons in the vehicle carrying the stock of refuse tea were taken into custody.

The accused have been identified as residents of Silawathura from 19 to 20 years of age. The 03 suspects along with the stock of refuse tea were handed over to the Vankalai Police for onward investigation.
