Navy holds two persons with local cannabis

The Navy coordinated with the Police seized 01kg and 700g of Local cannabis, during a search conducted at Thanamalwila area on 09^th March 2020.

SL Navy continuously carries out search operations to curb drug trafficking activities in the island and extending such naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF-Ambalanthota conducted operation in Thanamalwila area and spotted two suspicious three wheelers traveling along the road. By search of three wheelers, 01kg and 700g of local cannabis were recovered there and accordingly two suspects, three wheelers and stock of cannabis were taken into naval custody.

The suspects are residents of the same area aged 39 and 55. They along with two three wheelers and recovered stock of cannabis were handed over to Thanamalwila Police for onward investigation.
