Suspicious craft apprehended by Navy

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a suspicious craft during a special operation carried out in the seas off Galle on 06^th March 2020.

SL Navy is always keeping vigilant eye in order to avert attempts of illegal activities using the sea routes. Accordingly, a suspicious craft was spotted by a team of Naval personal attached to the Southern Naval Command during a special operation conducted in the seas off Galle and by search of the craft, a polythene sack used for packing tea powder, was recovered. This operation was assisted by a dog trained for search of drugs by SL Navy Kennel Unit and this sack was recovered by the dog.

Later on, since the recovered sack was believed to have been used for containing drugs, the craft and personnel aboard were taken into custody and handed over to the Criminal investigation Unit of Elpitiya Police for further investigation.
