Navy assists to apprehend a person with heroin

Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with Division Vice Squad -Mannar held a person with heroin in Uppukulam area in Mannar, on 03^rd March 2020.

SL Navy has been conducting continuous operations in order to brush off the drug menace from the island and many drug traffickers have been produced for legal action. Such another operation was carried out by a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Division Vice Squad, in Uppukulam area in Mannar and a suspicious person who was staying there, was observed during the raid. Accordingly, while searching the person about 170mg of heroin was found in his possession and he was taken into custody.

The apprehended suspect was identified as a resident of the same area and further investigation on the suspect and the amount of heroin, is conducted by Division Vice Squad -Mannar
