Haul of drugs approximately weighing 140 kg and 300g apprehended with Navy’s assistance

SL Navy in coordination with the Police Narcotic Bureau apprehended a haul of drugs weighing approximately 140kg and 300g with six (06) suspects, in the seas off Galle, today ( 29^th February 2020).

During this joint operation conducted by Navy with the assistance of Police Narcotic Bureau, 74kg and 600g of drugs which is believed to be Heroin and 65kg and 700g of drugs which is believed to be Methamphetamine (Ice) were apprehended with 6 suspects and two dinghies. The estimated value of this seized stock of drugs is about 1750 millions.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Dickwella, Beliatta, Piliyandala, Tangalle and Kudawella areas aged between 33 to 53. Further investigations on the seized stock of drugs, suspects and dinghies are conducted by SL Navy and the Police Narcotic Bureau.
