Navy recovers 31 banned nets at Nachchikuda beach, Mannar

Thirty one (31) unauthorized fishing nets which were in a dinghy, were taken into Naval custody during a search operation carried out by Navy along the beach area from Nachchikuda to Kumulamunai, on 25^th February 2020.

For the preservation of marine resources in the seas around the island, Sri Lanka Navy continuously carries out operations and as an extension of it a search was conducted along the beach area from Nachchikuda to Kumulamunai. During the search 31Nos of unauthorized fishing nets which were in a beached dinghy, were recovered and apprehended by the Navy.

The apprehended fishing nets were handed over to the Office of the Fisheries Inspector-Kilinochchi for onward action.
