Navy recovers 07 unauthorized fishing nets in Eravur lagoon area

The Navy managed to find 07 unauthorized fishing nets in the Eravur lagoon area, Batticaloa on 22^nd February 2020.

The Navy has been conducting regular operations for the preservation of fishery and aquatic resources belonging to the island. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, during a patrol conducted in the lagoon area of Eravur, managed to seize these unauthorized fishing nets cast by people.

These unauthorized fishing nets will be handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Batticaloa for onward investigation.
