Navy assists apprehension of 03 drug traffickers in Puttalam

The Navy managed to seize 1g and 110mg of heroin, during a special operation conducted with the Police in Alankuda, Puttalam on 22^nd February 2020.

Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command have searched a suspicious house, during a coordinated operation conducted with the Kalpitiya Police in Alankuda area. Inside the house were 03 suspects who were making arrangements to sell these drugs. As such, the 03 suspects were taken into custody. The accused have been identified as drug peddlers as well as residents of the same area, aged 20, 29 and 34.

Kalpitiya Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
