Fifty (50) senior sailors granted interest free loans

Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans worth Rs. 500,000 each to 50 senior sailors today (17^th February 2020). The simple ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters to handover the cheques in this regard was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.

A sum of Rs. 25 million has been released by the Naval Benefit Foundation for this welfare initiative mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, 2,830 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date. Meanwhile, the Navy is determined to grant this financial support to yet another 2,169 senior sailors in due course.
