Navy patronages discussion in Colombo with United Nation’s Office of Drugs and Crime on challenges associated with drug trafficking and other illegal activities in high seas
Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the United Nation’s Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held a round table discussion on the challenges associated with suspected vessels of trafficking drugs and other illegal activities, at the Lighthouse Galley in Colombo on 10th February 2020.
A group of intellectuals from the United Nation’s Office of Drugs and Crime headed by Mr. Allen Cole and an representative from Royal Australian Navy participated in the discussion and they exchanged views with the group of officers from SL Navy and Coast Guard headed by Director General Operations Rear Admiral Nandana Jayarathna, about the legal procedure on vessels engage in drug trafficking and illegal activities at high seas. During the discussion it was extensively discussed on jurisdiction on enforcement over Vessels engage on illegal activities especially the narcotic trafficking.
