Navy launches tree planting programme paralleled to Independence Day Celebrations

In parallel with the 72nd Independence Day celebrations, the Navy conducted a tree planting and programme on 4^th February 2020.

Accordingly, every Naval Command conducted this tree planting programme with the participation of Area Commanders, Deputy Area Commanders, Commanding Officers, all other officers, large number of senior and junior sailors.

This worthy effort of tree planting programme was organized as an extension of the 'Green Blue Drive' mooted by Commander of Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and more than 1000 plants endemic to the respective ares including various kinds of herbal saplings were planted during these campaigns.

The Navy except its professional duties, has been playing an instrumental role in protection and conservation the environment of the country while engaging in its continuous activities to preserve the marine echo system.
