Navy apprehends two persons dived for conch shells without permit

The Navy apprehended two suspects engaged in collecting conch shells, during a raid conducted in the beach areas of Udappuwa and Daluwa, on 06^th February 2020.

As part of the Navy's operations to curb illegal activities, this raid was conducted in the beach areas Udappuwa and Daluwa. During the raid, Navy apprehended two suspects engaged in diving for conch shells without permit. Four conch shells and diving gears possessed by them were also taken into Naval custody.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Madurankuliya and Kottamtivu areas.

The suspects along with the conch shells and diving gears were handed over to the Office of the Fisheries Inspector-Puttalam for onward investigation.
