Navy assists to raid a place manufacturing ‘Thool’ drug

During a coordinated raid conducted by the Navy with the Negombo Police, a haul of an illegal drug called ‘Thool’ – a mixture of tobacco powder and lime was seized. The consignment of the drug had been found in a house at Periamulla area in Negombo,.

During the raid, two kilos (2kg) of tobacco powder produced in this place, 2kg of lime used for production, 1000 Nos. of vials used for packing and two grinding machines were seized along with two suspects. The suspects were identified as 54 and 49 years old person residing at Periamulla.

As per the observations so far, it was convinced that this ‘Thool’ drug is produced targeting the school children. Further, investigation on the incident is conducted by Negombo Police Narcotic Bureau.

The Navy carries out continuous operations to avert the illegal drug smuggling in order to bring the drug traffickers for legal action.
