Suspect apprehended with 10 kg of local cannabis by Navy

The Navy apprehended a suspect with 10kg of local cannabis, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Thanamalwila on 02^nd February 2020.

The Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular operations to help support the national endeavour to make a drug free society. As an extension to that endeavour, the Navy conducted this operation, with the assistance of Ambalantota Police STF and intercepted a suspicious person at Thanamalwila area. After interrogating the suspect further, he led the raiding party to a thicket where 10kg of local cannabis has been hidden. Accordingly, the suspect along with the stock of cannabis was taken into custody. The accused has been identified as a resident of Ethiliwewa, aged 42.

Meanwhile, the suspect together with 10kg of local cannabis was handed over to the Koslanda Police for further investigation.
