SLNS Sindurala nominated as the Best Ship of 2019

SLNS Sindurala, A 521 and P 450 belonging to the SL Navy were respectively nominated as the Best Ship, the Best Small Ship and the Best Fast Attack Craft for the year 2019. The plaques engraved with a star mark were awarded to the wining craft by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, on 31 January 2020.

Among the ships belonging to the Sri Lanka Navy fleet, the Best Ship of the organization is selected every year, after having considered a wide range of activities accomplished by each ship. As such, the selection process takes in to consideration the sporting achievements, naval knowledge and rope handling skills of the crew, the war exercises and voyages made during the period concerned.

Having met the stringent selection criteria, SLNS Sindurala, A 521 and P 450 were selected as the Best Ship, Best Small Ship and the Best Fast Attack Craft respectively for the year 2019 by the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet. The plaques engraved a star mark were awarded to the respective Commanding Officers and the OIC of the wining craft by the Commander of the Navy in a ceremony held at the passenger terminal jetty of Colombo harbour.

The Chief of Staff, Commander Western Naval Area, Director General Operations, Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet, Commanding Officers, OIC, officers and all sailors of the wining craft were also present on this occasion.
