Eight Indian fishers trespassed Sri Lankan waters for illegal fishing apprehended by Navy
Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 08 Indian fishermen along with a fishing dhow for illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters on 30th January 2020.
Constant Naval patrols are conducted to prevent the trespassing of Indian poachers into the Sri Lankan territorial waters and this apprehension was made during a patrol carried out by Northern Naval Command in the seas 8 nautical miles East of Mulativu. Subsequently, the seized dhow along with the fishers were escorted to the Trincomalee harbour.
The group of 08 fishermen with their dhow were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Trincomalee, after a medical examination, for onward action.
