Navy grabs the first place of Sea Swimming Competition organized by Sri Lanka Water Sports Pool

A team of swimmers representing the Sri Lanka Navy participated in the Open Sea Swimming Competition organized for the 3rd consecutive year by the Sri Lanka Water Sports Pool, on 26th January 2020.

The Sea Swimming Competition was held in the seas off Galle Face with participation of 71 swimmers who represented schools, sports clubs and Tri Forces in large number. Eleven (11) contestants of SL Navy took part in the competition and GSN Perera of the Sri Lanka Navy won the first place. Other contestants of the Navy were able to secure the 6th, 11th and 17th positions. Former president of the Sri Lanka Water Sports Pool Mr Mahinda Liyanage graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Further, a team of Rapid Response Rescue and Relief unit of SL Navy was deployed for the protection of swimmers, under the directives of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. Sri Lanka Navy is prepared to provide this kind of welfare facilities for required occasions.
