Two (02) sea turtles entangled in fishing net released by the Navy

The Navy released two (02) sea turtles entangled in a fishing net, near the Kankesanthurai harbour on 24^th January 2020.

During routine patrol, a craft attached to the Northern Naval Command had spotted these two adult sea turtles entangled in a fishing net cast by fisherman at sea, close to Kankesanthurai harbour. Accordingly, the two sea turtles were rescued and released back to ocean by the Navy.

Meanwhile, the Navy is playing a pivotal role for the conservation of sea turtles that have been classified as threatened or endangered due to various reasons.
